Encore Packaging Solutions is a manufacturing facility based in Peterlee, which produces a wide range of paper products. The team requested a resin flooring system from MJF Group that would not only enhance the appearance of their production area, but also highlight designated working areas, pedestrian routes and storage areas.
Following a site visit and detailed discussions with the team at Encore Packaging Solutions, it was determined that Flowcrete’s SF41 epoxy resin coating system was the most suitable option for the environment’s needs. This meant we could fulfil the client’s request by installing a resin flooring system able to withstand light/medium/heavy foot traffic and light pallet trucks.
The flooring surface was prepared for the chosen resin flooring system using captive shot blasting followed by a diamond grind, producing a smooth surface ready for the application of the coatings.
Attention to detail was essential throughout this technical project as there were a number of different colours to be applied and different drying times associated with each. We worked very closely with the client throughout the project to ensure they were completely happy with where the new routes and demarcation lines were to be placed.
The client allocated a total of eleven days to complete the works to avoid any significant disruption to production at their busy facility. In order to meet the deadline, we responded flexibly to the client’s needs by working weekends and evenings, completing the preparation works prior to installing 4,300m² of epoxy resin coatings.
The demarcation lines were applied during night shifts and the final application of the main body resin floor coatings were carried out over four full days, keeping site disruption to a minimum.
