Encore Packaging Solutions are a manufacturing facility based in Peterlee who produce a wide range of paper products. They requested a flooring system that would not only enhance the appearance of their production area, but also highlight designated working areas, pedestrian routes and storage areas.
Following a site visit and detailed discussions with Encore Packaging Solutions, this helped us determine Flowcrete’s SF41 epoxy resin coating system was the most suitable option for the environment’s needs and to fulfil Encore Packaging Solution’s desirable specification; to propose and install a flooring system that can withstand light/medium/heavy foot traffic and light pallet trucks.
The floor was prepared using captive shot blasting followed by a diamond grind so as to produce a smooth surface ready for the application of the coatings.
Attention to detail was essential throughout this technical project as there were a number of different colours to be applied and different drying times associated with each. We worked very closely with the client from the start of the project to the run up to the installation of the floor coatings, to ensure they were completely happy with where the new routes and demarcation lines were to be placed.
The client allocated a total of eleven days to complete the works to avoid any significant disruption to production at their busy facility. We responded flexibly to those needs by working weekends and evenings completing the preparation works prior to installing 4,300m² of epoxy resin coatings, to ensure that we met the deadline requirement.
The demarcation lines were applied during night shifts and the final application of the main body floor coatings were carried out over four full days, keeping site disruption to a minimum.
