Following 19 years of tolerating old and outworn floors, Jon Black, Production Manager at Metallink Fluid Power Systems recognised that the production and warehousing flooring areas needed attention. Our team of specialists restored the floors throughout the full production and zinc phosphate areas within a short two week window so that the works didn’t affect production.
The old floors were removed, and the areas fully prepped for their chosen resin floor using a combination of shot blasting and diamond grinding prior to the application of a fresh coating system.
We supplied and applied two coats of Flowcrete’s Flowcoat SF41 solvent-free epoxy resin coating with a non-slip sand scatter between each coat as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
The Flowcoat SF41 epoxy resin floor coating system was chosen for this project as a hardwearing, anti-slip solution to combat against damage and wear from vehicle traffic, increasing safety and the lifespan of the floor. This was followed by the application of a fast-cure coating, Flowchem VE RC in tile red to advance the mechanical resistance of the floor. The functional nature of the epoxy resin flooring system meant yellow demarcation lines could also be installed.
During the project, we advised the client to approve a later recommendation which was to include a full scatter of quartz within the resin flooring system. This meant the client would be able to transport heavy baskets over the resin flooring without it causing scratches and damage to the floors.

We were allocated two weeks to complete the resin flooring works during the factory shutdown period, covering a total floor area of approximately 4,500m². While working to a tight deadline, daily communication as a team and with Jon played a key role in the seamless completion of this project.
